Back-to-School Blessing on Sept. 7 On Sunday, Sept. 7, during 10:30 service there will be a Back-to-School Blessing. The children will be invited up for a blessing to send them into the new school year with the assurance that God and their faith community are with them all the way! Teachers and professors will receive a back-to-school blessing too!
Tween Class kick-off On Sunday, Sept. 7, the new Tween Class for 5th and 6th graders will have a kick-off pizza party at noon.

Nursery The nursery is open Sunday mornings 9 am to noon for children newborn to age 3. It is staffed by paid professionals who have completed Safe Church training and a background check.
Children's Chapel Children aged 4 through 5th grade are invited to join us every Sunday during the school year during the 10:30 worship service. Meet the teachers on the Ferguson Ave. playground at 10:15. After some recreation time, the children go inside and are separated into older and younger age groups for a lesson based on that Sunday's lectionary. Children return to parents in worship in time for Communion. All our Children's Chapel volunteers are safe-church trained and background checked.
Tweens Children's Chapel Beginning Fall 2025! Children in grades 5-7 will have their own children’s chapel once a month, concurrent with the usual children’s chapel of younger children during worship. The year will begin with an assessment of spiritual gifts, to help these growing youngsters discern where in church life they have gifts and how they can get involved. They will have a space just for them, where they will meet for Tween Children’s Chapel and even just hang out. We will have two events outside of worship per semester: one service project and one purely fun event.
Youth Group St. Andrew's partners with Hilton Presbyterian for a Youth Group for grades 6-12. Contact Ginny Chilton, Supervisor of Children's & Youth Ministry, at St. Andrew's, to learn more. If your youth has any questions about what to expect, Ginny will be delighted to talk to you both. We look forward to seeing you and your friends there!
Acolytes Children and youth are invited to participate in worship, performing a variety of ceremonial duties during the service. Contact the church office if your child would like to join this ministry.
Cub Scouts Beginning Sept. 7, 6:30 to 7:30 PMScouting is returning to St. Andrew's! Pack 242 of Newport News, in existence since 1942, has decided to make St Andrews their new home church (formerly met at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel). Cub Scouts, part of Scouting America (previously Boy Scouts of America) has about 40 active cubs, both boys and girls. The Pack will be meeting on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 starting September 8th. If you know a boy or girl in kindergarten through 5th grade who might be interested in joining, click here.
