Worship with us

Each week St. Andrew's offers three services with Eucharist (Holy Communion) - two on Sunday morning and one on Wednesday. Special services and worship are scheduled throughout the church year.

Church activities suspended to prevent spread of coronavirus
On March 12, Bishop Haynes has asked all churches in Southern Virginia to suspend all in-person activities in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus in our communities. Visit our blog to read the Bishop's message and messages from our rector, Anne, about this decision. (any updates will also be posted on the blog)

Worship online with us
During this time there will be online worship and other offerings on our Facebook page. (You don't need a Facebook account to watch - when you click the link to our Facebook page, Facebook will ask if you want to create an account. Simply click "not now" and the page will open.)

Holy Week & Easter
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on April 5, and continues with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and then Easter on April 12. Get details about how we will observe Holy Week and celebrate Easter here.

The Easter Project
Bishop Haynes has asked congregations in Southern Virginia to not gather for worship until at least after Easter due to the coronavirus. So what does this mean for us at St. Andrew’s? It means that the clergy and staff are hard at work creating ways for us to walk through Holy Week and celebrate Easter together online, in print, and in spirit. Good Friday will still include the Stations of the Cross. On Easter we will set up the flower cross in front of the church for parishioners and neighbors to decorate while keeping the required social distance. We are inviting everyone to participate in “The Easter Project”.

Observing a Holy Lent
Lent began on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26. Click here for information and online resources to help you observe a Holy Lent.

Sunday Services

On Sunday morning, a greeter will welcome you and can help with questions and directions to the Nursery.  You will get a service program from the usher as you enter the church, and you're invited to sit wherever is most comfortable for you.

  • 8 a.m. – Traditional worship with Communion. Combines traditional language with simplicity and quiet dignity. In the church.

Children’s Chapel, for children age 3 through 5th grade, is offered during the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday. Following the Gospel reading, children leave for Chapel and return in time for Communion.

Stained Glass windows & Stations of the Cross

St. Andrew's stained glass windows tell a continuous story of the life of Christ, beginning with the Annunciation and ending with Pentecost. See and learn more about our windows here. The Stations of the Cross depicts the final hours, or Passion, of Jesus. See our beautiful Stations of the Cross here.

Funeral Customary

St. Andrew’s Funeral Customary is a document that contains helpful information not only about planning funerals but also about living wills, organ donations, powers of attorney, and other end-of-life considerations. It is a very helpful reference for yourself or for loved ones. Click here to download your copy of the Funeral Customary. Please contact the church office if you would like a printed copy.

Service Dogs Welcome at St. Andrew’s

Animals are one of God’s great gifts to us.  The loyalty and affection of our pets and service animals can be for us a reminder of the way God loves us – completely and abundantly.  What a blessing that some animals are able to serve as helpers and companions to humans who need a little extra help!  Service dogs are always welcome at St. Andrew’s.
