Building Discernment Team completes its work
The Building Discernment Team has worked many months to determine the best use for the former day school spaces. Their recommendation was submitted to and approved by the Vestry. Click here to read all about it.

Come to the Celebration on September 8
First United Methodist, Hilton Baptist, Hilton Presbyterian, and St. Andrew’s are all celebrating our 100th anniversaries this year.  On Sunday, September 8 a joint outdoor (weather permitting) service is being planned for 10:00 AM followed by a picnic lunch at a location to be determined based on the progress of the city’s sewer construction project. Volunteer at Newport Harbour Neighborhood Network Community Center
Newport Harbour Resident Services Coordinator Christina Myers spoke at both services on Sunday, August 11 and shared the need for volunteers at the center. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Christina at 757-247-0388 or newportharbour3@hmrproperties.com.

Episcopal Relief & Development - Disaster relief support
Episcopal Relief & Development would like to be poised and ready to respond when disasters strike, both at home and in communities around the world, especially since we are in the midst of the 2019 hurricane season. If you would like to support the ERD Disaster Fund, please make your check payable to St. Andrew’s with ERD in the memo section.

School supplies needed for Mission of the Holy Spirit
The Mission of the Holy Spirit, Norfolk, is collecting backpacks and school supplies for their youngsters for the new school year. They need backpacks, pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, notebook paper, notebooks, scissors. This is a great project for our church group! If you would like to help the youngsters, please bring supplies by September 8.

Recycle plastic
Hilton Community Playgroup is excited to partner with St. Andrew's, Hilton Community Garden and TREX. They will be collecting film plastic to earn a TREX bench for the soon to be Hilton Community Garden. Plastic that can be donated includes: plastic grocery bags, clean bread/food bags, paper towel wrapper, newspaper bags, etc. Drop your plastics in the TREX collection bin in the Main Street lobby.

Bishop Election News
As a congregation, we have been praying for months for our bishop search process.  A few weeks after the walkabouts, our next bishop will be elected at a special Diocesan Council on September 21. Those from our parish who will be voting are Anne Kirchmier, Lorna Williams, Al Roby, Bob Lord, Bill Wilds and Rachel Roby.
