Inquirers' Class for Confirmation (and Others Who Want to Learn More About the Episcopal Church)
Sundays, September 17 - November 5, 9:00 - 10:10 a.m., parish hall
Our Assisting Bishop, Jay Magness, will with us on Sunday, November 5 to offer the sacramental rite of Confirmation.   The Rev. Anne Kirchmier and Bill Wilds  will be co-leading an Inquirers' Class between services in September and October to prepare parish youth (in 10th grade or higher) and any interested adults for Confirmation.  The class will meet eight times between September 17 and November 5, from 9 to 10:10 AM.  If you are interested in Confirmation (or simply would like to learn more about the Episcopal Church), we would love to have you participate in the Inquirers' Class.  As we prepare for the class and order materials, we need to know how many people plan to participate.  If you would like to be part of the Inquirers' Class, please let Bill Wilds know by September 1 by emailing him at saec.bill19@verizon.net.

Getting Ready for School
As a partner of THRIVE Peninsula, we have been asked to help provide book bags with school supplies for children in need. Our goal is to fill at least 20 bags. To do so we need: book bags, hand sanitizer, small packets of tissues, pencils, crayons (boxes of 8), pencil sharpeners, erasers, rulers, scissors, pens, markers and highlighters, and pencil boxes or cases. We already have notebooks and notebook paper. If you would like to help with this project, please bring your items ot the church office by August 27.

Church Office closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30
The Church Office will be closed on Wednesday, August 30 because all of the parish staff will be taking part in Team Appreciation Day, a well-deserved field trip to the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk for some shared fun and relaxation.  There will be a healing service as usual at 11:00 a.m. on the 30th with a guest clergy person leading the service.

Coffee Bar Teams need you!
The Coffee Bar Teams are scheduled to begin service on Sunday, September 10. We have merged and revamped our teams and are currently seeking coffee lovers to assist our existing team leaders. If you attend the early service, we can use your help between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. If you attend the later service, we can use your help between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Each team serves one Sunday a month, except when there is a 5th Sunday and then we will take turns. Our team leaders are Jackie Legg Wash, Nora Ann Lambiotte, Joy Johnson, and Martha Field. Please contact Nora Ann at 757-291-2299 if you will be able to join one of the teams. It is a great way to enjoy fellowship.

5th Annual Race for Hope

There will be an 8K, a 5K and a 1 mile event. Check-in will be from 7 to 8 a.m., the one mile fun run will begin at 8 a.m., and the 8K and 5K races will start at 8:30 a.m. For more info on the race, go to www.ShareHeartinAfricaEvent.org. Publicity Worksheet

If you are part of a leadership team planning an event, please use our Publicity Worksheet to help the Communications Team and church staff get you the most visibility possible. And please be sure to send us an Event Wrap Up report (page 2 of the form) so we can share your story. If you save the form on your computer, you can open it and fill it out on your computer and then email it back. If you prefer to print and fill it out by hand, that's fine too!
