Annual Congregational Meeting Dec. 8
Please plan to attend the Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, Dec. 8 immediately following the 10:30 service. The Annual Meeting is an important event in the life of every parish.  At St. Andrew’s, not only will we elect vestry members, but we will hear updates from our newest teams (Building Implementation and Engaging the Climb).  We will also take time to thank the dedicated staff and parishioners who lead and support us in our ministries.  Click here for more information and to meet our four candidates for election to the Vestry.

A letter from the Hilton Clergy about Vacation Bible School
For more than 30 years Hilton churches have partnered together for Vacation Bible School. It has been an amazing ministry! Click here for a letter from the clergy of the Hilton Churches about VBS and creating a new leadership team in order for this ministry to continue.

Mini-retreat: Advent Space, Holy Waiting
Join us on Saturday, December 14, from 9 to noon to spend a morning with the expectant waiters of the first Christmas:  Elizabeth and Zechariah; and Joseph and Mary. What were their hopes and dreams, challenges and concerns? How can their experiences speak to us 2000 years later as we wait for Christ this Advent? We will meet in the Parish Hall but also spend time in the sanctuary. The morning will include scripture and silence, reflection and prayer. If you can’t stay for the whole morning, come for whatever portion works for you. Bring a journal if that would be helpful. All are welcome.

St. Andrew’s “Invite Cards”
Mary Parmer, the developer of the Invite, Welcome, Connect program used by dioceses across the country, says in her experience the single most effective tool for growing your congregation is the use of Invite Cards. The Congregational Development Team has designed and ordered a number of these cards to distribute to our congregation. These attractive two-sided business-sized cards will be made available at the church. We are asking that each of you take one (or more) of these cards and keep it with you in your wallet or purse. Should you encounter someone who asks about St. Andrew’s or sounds like they are looking for a church, you can give them one of these cards. It has all the pertinent information about St. Andrew’s they would need to facilitate a first visit. You may find that you use one of these cards as soon as tomorrow, or a year from now, or never. In any case you will be prepared if the opportunity presents itself.

Turkey Sandwich Day
Come join us on Friday, December 20 at 9 a.m. for this St. Andrew's tradition as we make and deliver 550 bag lunches for the annual Christmas Party in downtown Newport News.  This is one of our most favorite outreach ministries of the year.  Click here for all the details.
