Bruce Cheney and CowboyWelcome and Thanks to The Rev. Bruce Cheney!
To help fill the gap left by Lorna's departure, the Rev. Bruce Cheney, former rector at St. Paul's and current rector at St. George's, will be stepping in to help Anne with pastoral care at St. Andrew's. A retired Coast Guard officer, Bruce was ordained to the priesthood in 2007. He has served in a variety of places, including as a hospice chaplain for three years in Missouri.  He often travels with his therapy and service dog, Cowboy. Bruce will be presiding at Wednesday healing Eucharist once or twice a month and will assist as needed with emergency and homebound pastoral care visits. Welcome, Bruce!

Gracious Giving Pledge Campaign
It is a time for all of us to reflect on the plentiful blessings that God provides to each of us and to prayerfully consider how we can best express our gratitude to the Lord and assist the mission of St. Andrew’s by assuring a strong financial foundation upon which to support not just the bricks and mortar of our parish, but also the essential ministries that we offer and administer. Visit our blog for members' stories of how our ministries are changing lives within the St. Andrew's community of faith, our neighborhood, and the world. Click here for a Pledge Card.

“Tell Me a Story” Dinner
Italians are often called the best story tellers…so we’re going to find out! How? By acting like we’re Italian for one memorable evening. COME for a delicious Italian Supper Party, catered by Anna’s, on October 17 (Thursday) at 6 pm to St. Andrew’s Parish Hall. DINE on Baked Ziti with Meat Sauce or Marinara Sauce, Mediterranean Salad, Garlic Knots & Herb Bread. ENJOY assorted beverages and authentic Italian wines. FEAST on Cheesecake & Fruit and then join your table mates to SHARE your favorite St. Andrew’s stories from our treasured 100 year history. DISCOVER all the reasons we love St. Andrew’s! RSVP: Please…so we’ll know how much food to order. There is no charge but we need to know who’s coming. As always everyone is  invited and your generous donations will be gratefully accepted. RSVP to saec0371@gmail.com by October 13.

Halloween in Hilton!
Halloween is HUGE in Hilton Village. Come join us as we hand out treats (and no tricks!) to the costumed characters trick-or-treating! Last year we filled our 1,200 Halloween treat bags that were handed out to children on October 31 along with gently used books, games, and toys.  We would like to start collecting these items so that we can begin filling this year’s treat bags.  Please bring candy (small items that are wrapped), books, games, and toys to church and place them in the “Halloween Treat Box” in the Main Street Lobby by Wednesday, October 23.

All Saints Sunday Celebration
On All Saints’ Sunday, November 3, we will have one more opportunity to honor our 100th Anniversary as we remember family saints, living or dead, by writing their names on ribbons that will be carried in and out of the church at the 10:30 AM service.  The service will be followed by a brunch hosted by our Vestry. There will be several locations on Sundays October 20 and 27 at which you can write the names of your saints on ribbons. You may also come by the church during the week until Wednesday, October 30 to write names on the ribbons.

Vestry nominations being accepted
Nominations for the Vestry Class of 2022 are now being accepted. If you would like to nominate someone, after getting their permission, please submit the nomination form (available in the church office) by November 3. The election will take place on Sunday, December 8 after the 10:30 a.m. service. Click here for details and nomination form.

Responding to Gun Violence
In an effort to continue to address gun violence and its effects on our lives and community, we will be holding a prayer vigil/service on Sunday, October 20 at 4:00 PM here at St. Andrew’s.  After this service, there will be a meeting of those who are interested in learning more about what can be done about this epidemic on an individual/collective basis. For concerns or comments, please contact Karen Merritt (merrik01@msn.com) or Merrill Hemmert (merrillhemmert@verizon.net).
