The 16th Sunday After Pentecost
Episcopal Schools Celebration Week
Last week in chapel we had very entertaining presentations by our room moms focusing on our Fall Fun Walk and Run. During chapel one of the room moms asked the children where did they think they were on the USA map in terms of the miles they had walked so far. One little Kindergartner answered, "The Kingdom of God!" How special that answer was! Here at St. Andrew's we have the smallest of our children being mindful that we are in God's world. Chapel is the start of everyday – this is what makes our school stand apart from any other.
As we celebrate Episcopal Schools Celebration Week, October 2-8, the theme we will focus on is "Let the whole world see and know." This is a challenge for all of us to be mindful of who we are and to share all that happens not only in school – but especially in chapel. I invite all of our parents and parishioners to stop in and hear the songs and see the faces of our children. It will lift your spirit and feed your soul. How fortunate I am to be part of this wonderful community!

The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula desperately needs canned protein, canned vegetables, canned fruit, and pasta/sauces due to the demands of Hurricane Irene.
Many thanks for last Sunday: to those who brought goodies for St. Andy's Café, especially Cheryl Zilkie for the delicious cakes, and to those who cleaned up; and to Mary Heath, Sabrina Miles, and Bill Wilds for acolyte training, and especially Tonia Graves for coordinating the monthly acolyte schedule. | ||||||||||
