Thank You!
Both The Gathering and EYC resume on Sunday, January 8, 2012.
We would also like to thank the youth and their parents who helped to make the St. Andrew's Craft Fair a success this year.
Tax Credit for 2011 Charitable Gifts
St. Andrew's Church appreciates your financial support this year. This is just a reminder: in order to receive credit on your 2011 contribution statement, it is necessary for the church to receive your check on or before December 31, 2011. If you mail in your contribution, the envelope must be postmarked by December 31. For any questions regarding this matter, don't hesitate to contact Cary Kelly at 595-0371, extension 17.
Christian Education and Confirmation Classes
Christian Education classes will resume on January 15, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. At that time, we will be offering a Confirmation class for adults and youth. Youth must currently be in the 9th grade or higher to attend the class. If you as an adult or youth are interested in being a part of the class, please call (595-0371) or email (saec.bill19@verizon.net) Bill Wilds by January 6 so that we can plan resources and finalize the schedule.
Have you made your reservations for the Epiphany Celebration Breakfast on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall. There is no cost; however, RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Contact Rachel Roby: 595-0371, E-Mail: saec0371@verizon.net or Bill Wilds: 595-0371, E-Mail: saec.bill19@verizon.net or sign-up on the bulletin board at church. Donations will be accepted for Outreach.
Finance Update
Through November, expenses have exceeded income by $22,120. Income includes a $5,000 loan from the Emergency Fund so we are currently running a deficit of $27,120. We need to receive contributions of $94,000 in December in order to reach our budget estimate for 2011 income. We really need a generous pouring forth of holiday spirit!
Warm Fuzzy Items
On Sunday, December 18, 47 blanket sleepers for Riverside Hospital and 22 sweatshirts and 44 pairs of socks for St. Paul's were blessed. In addition, 15 blanket sleepers, 50 Onesies, 50 pairs of baby socks, and 50 receiving blankets had already been delivered for Riverside Hospital. Thank you for you support of the wonderful outreach ministry.
Wreath Project
A special thank-you to Greg Eby and his team for providing food for the hungry volunteers who laid the 6,500 wreaths. We invite you to go and see the Hampton National Cemetery in its beauty this holiday season and thank our fallen veterans for their service which keeps our country safe. Thank you for your tremendous support of this incredible project!
Please mark your calendars to help on Saturday, January 14, when the EYC returns to collect the wreaths for storage.
We will be needing hundreds of new bows for the 2012. If you would be willing to make or donate bows, please let Harper Lewis know (595-0371, E-Mail: saec.harper15@verizon.net).
PORT update: We have had an excellent response for making lasagnas and serving dinner for our volunteer night on December 26. We still need volunteers for serving breakfast and checking clients out on the morning of December 27. If you are going to be in the area that morning, please volunteer a couple of hours to take care of the least of our brothers this holiday season.
2012 Vestry Officers
If you requested 2012 offering envelopes, they will be available in the Main Street entrance, beginning Christmas Eve. Please do not use them until 2012.
Lay Reading
If you would like to be considered as a lay reader for St. Andrew's beginning in the spring, please contact Bill Wilds (595-0371 or saec.bill19@verizon.net). This is a three-year commitment.
